Bolt from the Blue

What’s the story behind “If I Had A Blog?” It’s actually a very short tale, based on the fact that I do very poorly with deadlines. I’ve started a number of blogs before and immediately felt pressured – either to come up with a fantastic photo each day or write an incredibly profound essay, and soon the project was abandoned. As I was writing in my journal the other night, it occurred to me that I never have trouble just writing about my day or the random thoughts that come to me as I go about my work as a farm-hand and itinerant photographer. “If I had a blog,” I wrote, “I could just ‘journal’ and let people draw their own conclusions. What title would encompass such an eclectic gathering of thoughts?” That’s when the lightning-bolt struck. “If I Had A Blog!” No pressure there! Thus the blog was born.
